Higher Judois Moshe Feldenkrais's last and most sophisticated book on judo. This attractive edition includes forewords by Dennis Leri, trainer and martial artist; Michel Brousse, Judoka and historian of French Judo; and Moti Navi, researcher on the Feldenkrais Method's martial roots. These special forewords add historical and philosophical depth to the new edition.

In this book, Moshe Feldenkrais presents judo as the art of using all parts of the body to promote general health, and as part of the "basic culture of the body." He reveals judo's potential for creating a sense of rhythm of movement and improving mental and physical coordination. Higher Judo covers specific movements and positions—the astride position, the six clock approach, falling techniques—in both the text and clear line drawings. Even more important, it shows how such groundwork can help practitioners develop their mental and physical awareness to their full potential.

Moshe Feldenkrais, D. Sc. (1904 - 1984) began developing what has become known as the Feldenkrais Method after he sustained a crippling knee injury while working in England during World War II. His own recovery process and subsequent wide-ranging research resulted in the creation of a unique educational system that incorporated his background in physics, Judo, and a lifelong interest in human development. By the end of Dr. Feldenkrais’s life, the Feldenkrais Method had gained an International reputation and he had trained a significant number of teachers. The Method that bears his name continues to evolve and spread across the globe.
